DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced today Teodoro Garcia-Lopez, 32 (d.o.b. 4/12/1992), formerly of Addison, has been sentenced to eighty-three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for a 2022 home invasion and sexual assault of a ten-year-old girl. On August 30, 2024, a jury found Garcia-Lopez guilty of three counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault - Victim Under Thirteen (Class X Felony), two counts of Home Invasion (Class X Felony), two counts of Aggravated Battery (one Class 2 Felony and one Class 3 Felony) and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony). On February 3, 2022, Garcia-Lopez appeared in Bond Court where Judge Michael Reidy set bond at $1 million with 10% to apply. He has remained in custody at the DuPage County Jail since that time. Judge Joseph Bugos presided over Garcia-Lopez’s trial and handed down today’s sentence.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert “Bob” Berlin and several Assistant State’s Attorneys joined the 18th Judicial Family Violence Coordinating Council in presenting various topics related to DuPage County’s Comprehensive approach to combating domestic violence.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and his entire office warmly welcomed its newest team member, Duo Dog “Crew”, to the Office this afternoon. DuPage County Clerk of the Circuit Court Candice Adams administered Crew’s oath of office at his official swearing in ceremony in the State’s Attorney’s Office attended by dozens of Crew’s newest co-workers. Following the ceremony, Crew, a twenty-month-old Labrador Retriever, took some time before getting to work to introduce himself to his fellow employees and even posed for several photographs.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced today that a Chicago man on parole for two armed robberies out of Cook County has been sentenced to thirty-eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for robbing at gunpoint a Downers Grove gas station and an Oakbrook Terrace convenience store on the same day in June 2021. Robert Howard, 31 (d.o.b. 7/16/1993) formerly of Chicago, appeared at his sentencing hearing this morning in front of Judge Daniel Guerin who handed down the sentence. On June 23, 2021, Johnson appeared in Bond Court where Judge Guerin denied bond. He has remained in custody at the DuPage County Jail since that time. On July 25, 2024, Howard entered a blind plea of guilty to two counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm, a Class X Felony. Due to Howard’s criminal history, he was extended term eligible, resulting in a sentencing range of between twenty-one to sixty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
