Three Cook County Men Charged for Robbing Bloomingdale Store at Gunpoint.

Bloomingdale

Bloomingdale – DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Bloomingdale Director of Public Safety Frank Giammarese announced today that three Cook County men have each been charged with one count of Armed Robbery with a Firearm (Class X Felony) for allegedly robbing at gunpoint a Bloomingdale T-Mobile store. Jerron Brewer, 27 (d.o.b. 2/18/1993) of 17904 Rose Street, Lansing, De Leone Fisher, 23 (d.o.b. 12/25/1996) of 7329 South University, Chicago and Felton McKinzie, 25 (d.o.b. 9/11/1995) of 6549 Kenwood Avenue, Chicago, appeared in Bond Court this morning in front of Judge Anne Therieau Hayes who set bond at $500,000 with 10% to apply for Brewer and at $750,000 with 10% to apply for Fisher and McKinzie. Additionally, McKinzie has been charged with one count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony) and Fisher has been charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony.)

On October 8, 2020 at approximately 10:38am, the Bloomingdale Police Department received a report of an armed robbery at the T-Mobile store located at 170 East Lake St. It is alleged that three males, later identified as Brewer, Fisher and McKinzie, entered the store and immediately demanded all of the phones and tablets from the two female T-Mobile employees. It is alleged that one of the men was armed with a handgun with an extended magazine and another was armed with an AR-15 loaded with a thirty-round magazine. It is alleged that the two males with the guns took the employees to the back room where the safes were located while the third male stayed by the front door acting as a look out. It is further alleged that the three men left the store carrying bags filled with merchandise from the store and fled the scene in a Porsche SUV, which had been reported stolen. Later the same day, the Porsche SUV was involved in a crash in Chicago. Within minutes, all three defendants were taken into custody just blocks away from the crash.

“The allegations that these defendants violently robbed at gunpoint a T-Mobile store while two female employees were working are outrageous and will be met with the full force of the law,” Berlin said. “What I find particularly upsetting about this case is that one of the defendants, Jerron Brewer, is currently out on bond on a pending Cook County Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon case and De Leone Fisher, is a convicted felon currently out on bond out of Cook County. I would like to thank the Bloomingdale Police Departments for their heads-up work on this case. I would like to thank the Chicago Police Department as well as the Illinois State Police and DuPage County James Mendrick and his office for their assistance in this case. I would also like to thank Assistant State’s Attorneys Helen Kapas and Patrick Miner for their efforts in securing a strong prosecution against each of these defendants.”

“I am very proud of the professionalism and dedication shown by all law enforcement in this case,” Giammarese said. “Conduct and actions like this by the alleged offenders will never be acceptable in our society, we work hard every day to protect and serve the law abiding citizens. Thank you to assisting agencies and to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office for their impartial and dedicated review of the facts.”

The next scheduled court appearance for the defendants is scheduled for November 2, 2020 in front of Judge Brian Telander. If convicted, the defendants each face a penalty of between twenty-one and forty-five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendants’ guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
