Second offender charged with Attempt Terrorism for planning to fire bomb squad cars
Amanda Wolf, 23, of Lombard was charged with Attempt Terrorism and Possession of an Incendiary Device.
Lombard - DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Lombard Chief of Police Roy Newton announced today that a Lombard woman is facing Attempt Terrorism and Possession of Incendiary Device charges for allegedly assisting a Lombard man who allegedly approached numerous city-owned squad cars armed with a Molotov cocktail, lighters, butane torches and a bat. Amanda Wolf, 23 (d.o.b. 9/10/1996) of the 1300 block of Steward Avenue, appeared in Bond Court this morning where Judge Alex McGimpsey set bond at $750,000 with 10% to apply.
On June 1st, 2020 at approximately 12:27 a.m., a Lombard police officer allegedly observed a male dressed in all black wearing a hood, face covering and latex gloves walking near the Village Hall and then in the direction of the Village of Lombard Municipal campus with a bat hanging from his bag. It is alleged that the subject, later identified as Christian Frazee, was walking in the direction of the squad cars and employee vehicles holding a lighter in his left hand and a Molotov cocktail in his right hand. It is further alleged that Frazee also had a butane torch lighter, seven additional lighters and two knives in his possession. Frazee was taken into custody at this time. Further investigation into the matter revealed that Wolf allegedly supplied Frazee with the materials to make the Molotov cocktail. Additionally, it is alleged that Wolf exchanged numerous texts with Frazee that evening including an exchange where Frazee tells Wolf he’s going to “Throw shit at the cop cars” and asks her to “Bring me some ribbing [sic] alcohol a rag and a glass bottle” to which Wolf responded “Okay”. Another text exchange alleges that Frazee asks Wolf “Is peroxide flammable?” to which Wolf responded, “Wya I got that stuff for ya I also threw in some acetone I know that’s flammable lol”.
“The arrest of Ms. Wolf sends the message that while we fully support peaceful protests in DuPage County, we have no tolerance for any criminal behavior perpetrated under the guise of such protests,” Berlin said. “Peaceful protests do not include Molotov cocktails, butane torches, knives and a baseball bat. There is nothing funny about planned criminal behavior, which if carried out, may have caused significant damage to property and the potential loss of human life. Thanks to the outstanding work of the Lombard Police Department, Ms. Wolf is now facing extremely serious charges for her alleged involvement with Mr. Frazee. I would like to thank Assistant State’s Attorney Lee Roupas for his efforts in securing today’s charges against Ms. Wolf.”
“For the safety of our community, it is imperative that we thoroughly investigate every aspect of this case, which will ultimately lead to its natural conclusion,” Newton said. “I am very appreciative of the legal guidance and assistance we have received from State’s Attorney Berlin’s office throughout the investigation. As I mentioned at the onset of this case, we still believe this to be an isolated incident and not part of any broader group or organization.”
Wolf’s next court appearance is scheduled for August 28, 2020 for arraignment in front of Judge Jeffrey MacKay. Wolfe and Frazee have each been charged with one count of Attempt Terrorism and two counts of Possession of Explosive or Incendiary Device (both charges are a Class 1 Felony). On June 1, 2020, Frazee appeared in Bond Court where bond was set at $1 million with 10% to apply. On June 30, he was released from custody after posting the necessary $100,000, or 10%, of his $1 million bond. His next court date is scheduled for September 4, 2020 for status in front of Judge Jeffrey MacKay.
Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
