DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Oak Brook Chief of Police James Kruger announced today that bond has been set for four of six individuals, all of whom are from Chicago, accused of stealing nearly $15,000 worth of merchandise from an Ulta Beauty store located at 2155 W. 22nd Street, Oak Brook. Peaches P. Johnson, 29 (d.o.b. 8/26/1992), of the 6900 block of S. Campbell, Kamal J. Hoskins, 25 (d.o.b. 9/19/1996) of the 1600 block of E. 67th Street, Roy Crane, 21 (d.o.b. 9/8/2000) of the 1500 block of E 93rd and Darnell Profit, 19 (d.o.b. 1/28/2002) of the 1500 block of E. 93rd, appeared in Bond Court this morning where Judge Robert Miller set bond at $175,000 with 10% to apply for Johnson and $100,000 with 10% to apply for Hoskins, Crane and Profit. The two remaining individuals, both juveniles, will appear at a detention hearing tomorrow morning. All six defendants have been charged with one count of Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Retail Theft (Class 3 Felony).

Baugh has been charged with one count of Attempt Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking With a Firearm (Class 1 Felony) and one count of Armed Robbery with a Firearm (Class X Felony). Baugh’s co-defendant, Demario Butler, 30 (d.o.b. 4/8/1991) of the 4300 block of W. Maypole, Chicago is facing the same charges. On October 25, 2021, Butler appeared in Bond Court where bond was set at $500,000 with 10% to apply.

Judge Miller issued his ruling following a five-day-long bench trial where Mercado faced more than two dozen charges as the result of a 2019 fire at an unincorporated West Chicago kennel he operated that claimed the lives of twenty-nine dogs. On July 10, 2019, Mercado, who operated the former D and D Kennel located at 2N441 North County Farm Road, was arrested on a $50,000 with 10% to apply arrest warrant. The following day he posted the necessary 10%, or $5,000, and was released from custody.

Vieyra was sentenced to twenty-five years on each of the counts, which will run concurrently. He has been held in custody at the DuPage County Jail on a bond of $3 million with 10% to apply since his arrest on October 21, 2018 and will receive credit for that time.

On April 30, 2021, Hendricks’ co-defendant, Lamourice Shepherd, 22, also of Chicago, was sentenced to twelve years in the IDOC following his plea of guilty to the same charge. Last summer, two juveniles also involved each entered a plea of guilty to their roles in the incident and received sentences of an indeterminate period of time not to exceed their twenty-first birthday in the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice. Hendricks entered his plea in front of Judge Daniel Guerin, who handed down the sentence.
