On December 7, 2020, Robert “Bob” Berlin was ceremonially sworn in for another term as DuPage County State’s Attorney. Joined by his wife, Berlin stated he remains committed to “seeking justice in every case, working as hard as I can to protect the community, defending the rights of victims, and to continue to be proactive in finding ways to reduce crime.” Berlin also promised to take a hard line on violent crime as such offenses continue to spike in nearby Chicago and Cook County.

Bond Set for Chicago Man Charged with Armed Robbery of Addison Gas Station

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick announced today that charges have been filed against a Chicago man for allegedly robbing an Addison gas station at gunpoint. Queshane Jefferson, 22 (d.o.b. 2/8/1998), with a last known address of 226 N. Pine, appeared in Bond Court this afternoon were Judge Paul Marchese set bond in the amount of $500,000 with 10% to apply, in accordance with a previously issued arrest warrant. Jefferson has been charged with one count of Armed Robbery, a Class X Felony.

Chicago man arrested; charged with fleeing in a stolen motor vehicle and spitting on State Trooper

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin and ISP District 15 Commander Jason Bradley announced yesterday that bond has been set for a Chicago man accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle. Carlos Perez, 22 (d.o.b. 6/23/1998) of the 5500 block of N. Sawyer, appeared at a bond hearing this morning where Judge Ann Celine O’Hallaren Walsh set bond at $100,000 with 10% to apply. In all, Perez has been charged with one count of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding – Stolen Vehicle (Class 1 Felony), one count of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 2 Felony), Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Criminal Damage to State Property (Class 3 Felony).

Jerron Brewer, 27 (d.o.b. 2/18/1993) of 17904 Rose Street, Lansing, De Leone Fisher, 23 (d.o.b. 12/25/1996) of 7329 South University, Chicago and Felton McKinzie, 25 (d.o.b. 9/11/1995) of 6549 Kenwood Avenue, Chicago, appeared in Bond Court this morning in front of Judge Anne Therieau Hayes who set bond at $500,000 with 10% to apply for Brewer and at $750,000 with 10% to apply for Fisher and McKinzie. Elmhurst drive-by shooter arrested in Arizona; to be extradicted to DuPage County

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin and Elmhurst Chief of Police Michael Ruth announced today that a twenty-two-year-old man has been charged with Attempt First Degree Murder for allegedly shooting an Elmhurst man last May. Charged with one count of Attempt First Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Battery – Discharge of a Firearm (both Class X Felonies) is Alec Gonzales, 22 (d.o.b. 10/27/1997) with residences at 679 S. Berkley Avenue, Elmhurst and 8534 E Grandview Street, Mesa, Arizona. Gonzales is currently in custody in the Maricopa County, Arizona, Jail. Extradition proceedings are pending and he is expected to return to DuPage County in the near future.

Justice for Andrea Urban; Killer Sentenced to Life in Prison

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced today that Judge Brian Telander has sentenced Dominic Sanders, 33 (d.o.b. 2/2/1987) formerly of University Park, to natural life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2017 murder of Andrea Urban of Hinsdale. Additionally, Judge Telander sentenced Sanders to thirty years on Home Invasion Charges and Fifteen years on Residential Burglary Charges. All three sentences will be served consecutively.
